The Good News:
Mom will probably get to come home soon. Don't know the date yet. She's doing better with the stairs - yay! I guess her medical team has to have a meeting and then she'll know when.
The Bad News:
She had her apointment with the kidney doctor and was told her kidneys sustained too much damage, therefore she will be on dialysis permanently. Not the news we wanted to hear.
The Not So Bad News:
Her doctor said she is a candidate for a procedure where they implant a port somewhere under the skin and she can do dialysis at home, while she sleeps. So, she won't have to spend 3 days a week at a dialysis facility. She'll be able to do it at home.
So, that's the news for now.

Thanks for keeping this blog Sandy. I haven't seen Grandma in a long time as my kids and I have been sick since JANUARY!!!
ReplyDeleteI am glad we live in a day and age that bad health news can quickly turn into not so bad news. It's awful about the dialysis, but wonderful to hear that with the port, her quality of life will be improved.
We love you Grandma and will see you soon!
